Happy Belated Birthday Billie D. On April 6th he turned 74 years old. I remember this picture vividly. I was working at 102 jamz and he came to promote one of those touring gospel plays he was in with the Adult AC station. Even then he was breath-taking. So elegant and those eyes and his voice melted you. I walked up to him and said “Hi Mr. Williams can I take a picture with you.” And he said “You want a picture with me? How do you know who I am, you’re just a baby.” I frowned my face up at this icon and said “I’m not a baby, I’m 21.” LOL
I knew what he meant but always have to give a little Eb sass no matter who I’m around. I sent the picture to my grandmother and she was beyond jealous. So happy to have met him. Wish I could meet him again to talk about his journey. I love sitting and talking to old people. Hoping I’ll be able to sit and live a life as full and vibrant as there’s.

The many hairstyles of Eb.
On the 1st day of May when I have only 5 days left before I turn the big 3-0 I thought it would be hilarious to go through the journey of the hairstyles I’ve had since a teenager since I still haven’t decided what I’m going to do with my hair for the 30th birthday.
Before I start in my teens I want to know why my momma gave me a jheri curl in the 2nd grade? SMDH!
Ok now let’s move on to when I could actually control what my hair looked like.
Extremely upset I couldn’t find a pic of when I dyed my hair purple in college but the hair journey is still full of lot of laughs regardless.
For the first day of school my Junior Year I thought I would be stuntin’ on them hoes if I came to school with a bowtie on my head. LOL
You couldn’t tell me nothing. And it had purple streaks. Do you know I wore purple every day that entire first week of school. Bwhahahahah. I was a funny kid I swear.
Yup I had finger waves. Thank God there are no pictures of that. (That I have anyway)
I used to love me some ponytails though. And pin curls. Here is my senior yearbook picture.
In college I kept my hair in a super short cut for the most part.
Until I got tired of curling my hair then I would pop up with the pixie braids until it was long enough to put in some flat twists.
Grew my hair out senior year just so I would have some hair sticking out of my cap and cut and cut it right after graduation.
Of course I had my micro-braid phase… especially in 2004 when I had first moved to NY and hadn’t found a hairdresser up here yet that I trusted.
I’ve also rocked the afro puff.
2007 I started experimenting a lot with weaves. Here I am on my way to my 26th birthday party.
2008 I got a little more comfortable with fake hair and started rocking the long weave.
Never been a person that liked long hair so this was short-lived.
Going from a flat iron easy do to a short do that you have to curl all the time is a task so when I cut it I opted for a short do that I could flat iron.
Always been a one that loved my bang. Ever since I was a little girl used to beg for a bang but would I let go of the weave I decided to let my forehead get some love by the end of 2009.
Tired of waiting on my bang to go I started putting a couple tracks in the front to make it fuller in 2010.
And now I have this short bob thing going on
Who knows what my hair journey will bring in my 30s. Especially since I have been plucking this thick pesky gray hair that keeps coming back in my bang for the past couple of months. LOL #teamdyeitjetblack
